Standardized Network

In an effort to simplify troubleshooting of network configuration problems we have attempted to standardize on the following network wiring and configuration.

Note that if you are unsure about anything here then please do not guess. Reach out to support@elmstonegroup.com for assistance.

Cable modem

  • Connected to the wall with a black coax cable.
  • Usually have 4 Ethernet ports for connecting to the office network.

Manager or Leasing Computer:

  • Green network cable from the computer Ethernet port to port #1 on the switch/hub.

Printer:

  • Blue network cable connected from the printer to port #2 on the switch/hub.
  • In general, we aim to provide an inkjet printer (HP DeskJet 8710 or similar) in the manager’s office and a laser printer (Brother MFC-9340CDW or similar) at the leasing desk.
  • All office computers should be able to print to any office printer though should default to the closer printer.

Phone:

  • Yellow network cable from the back of the phone to port #3 on the switch/hub.

Surveillance PC (from 3rd Eye Surveillance):

  • Red network cable from the back of the PC to port #4 on the switch/hub.

Other:

  • Black, gray or possibly white Ethernet cables are used as the main data line around the office.

Standardized IP addresses

Internal network addresses are of the form 192.168.0.xxx with the following “reserved” addresses:

001 Gateway/cable modem Black
